L’Eau - Ganga, 1985

​

L’Eau-Ganga is a visual poem about « the » Indian river, the Ganges. “Ganga”, meaning water in Sanskrit, etymologically means: “what flows fast”. This word indicates the movement of life, but also refers to a movement towards death. In the Indian civilization: “life comes from water and returns back to water”, it incarnates an essential material. A shot from the film particularly conveys this power of: an elderly lady, while praying, collects water from the Ganga in a vase and pours it back into the river, in repetition. She mimes the passage of life and death, an act of purification.

One More Garden, One More Circle, 2013

​

L’installation fragile, entièrement faite de cendre est composée de quelques 800 fleurs de 70 espèces différentes, davantage en danger par excès que par manque de soin. Ce jardin, créé à partir de matière sous une forme ultime, se présente comme un locus - le lieu d'une distance, d'une divergence, d'une intersection entre tangible et immatérielle, copie et réalité, éternelle et périssable. C'est un jardin qui refuse presque de partager la joie de son existence. Là, pas besoin d'eau, aucun soin à apporter - le rôle du jardinier cesse d'exister. À la fin de chaque présentation de la pièce, la cendre balayée est conservée dans des pots de verre, et réutilisée lors de la prochaine installation. Ainsi, la nature immatérielle de la pièce conserve les souvenirs de ses présentations antérieures.
