A water tale, 2008

​

In this short film, an old fisherman and his young helper drive through a desert. The old man tells the boy old magical stories about the sea. They stop to get water from a fountain, as they will face a long working day on the sea. Then we see them on a rolling boat, ritually preparing their fishing equipment. We hear the sound of the water without actually seeing it. The old man and the boy throw the fishing net out, which lands on sand, revealing the whole scene: the two protagonists are standing on a boat beached the middle of the desert while the sound of water dramatically fades.

Dans ce court-métrage, un vieux pêcheur et son jeune assistant roulent à travers le désert. Le pêcheur raconte au garçon de vieilles histoires magiques sur la mer. Ils s’arrêtent pour prendre de l'eau à une fontaine car une longue journée de travail en mer les attend. On les retrouve ensuite sur un bateau qui tangue, préparant leur matériel de pêche comme un rituel. On peut entendre le son de l'eau sans la voir. Le vieil homme et le garçon jettent le filet de pêche, qui atterrit sur le sable. Maintenant, on peut voir l’ensemble de la scène : les deux personnages sont debout sur une épave, au milieu du désert. Le bruit de l'eau a disparu.
